Wandering, wondering what the evening sky might bring Waiting for just anything from you For just anything from you You’re the star I tried to catch but I can’t reach that far I dreamt of claiming for my own somehow But who could ever claim a star? A comet tail, flint and fire like a Catherine wheel Sparks and spirals in an autumn field A flash of brightness in the dark That’s how you smile, when you smile it opens up my heart Flint and fire tearing me apart Your smile is tearing me apart Fight the pain, we fight ourselves, we fight against our fear The clouds depart, and I’m still sitting here Under this shining field of stars Flying in sweeping circles I held the wonder in my hands But still I didn’t quite understand Cold and warm, breaching beams of orange light at dawn A field aglow and I’ll depart alone Why must you be so cold and warm? I’m a moon, passing faintly in the afternoon Lost in daylight, wondering what to do Waiting for anything from you For just anything from you For just anything from you

Dip your toe, send a ripple to the water’s edge as the boys build a dam across the river bed and hearts melt into shadows Stacking stones, piled high, as you smiled at me and my thoughts so loud, but I cannot speak what am I to do? Find a heavy rock like this, and hold it against your chest block out all sound, draw a deep breath and splash down will I ever let go? hard rope tugs my hands, and I raise my eyes swing up into nothing, dissolve into the sky (where else to go) there’s nowhere to go (It’s a funny little thing that you told me) It’s a funny little thing that you told me, running away through the stones piled up in my head and the more it sinks down, the more I see those shadows won’t be giving up their mysteries so what am I to do? Let go or hold on?

Everybody 05:43
Swallowed song, this hollow drum Beating heart all back to front Stung me hard, a thick taste on my tongue Choose a card, will it speak the truth? You got way too much to own up to Gonna fling out a net, magic spells sent to find you Juniper branch in a crystal ball Can’t see much of anything anymore Throw fire at the dragon, be careful what you wish for Moments of hope and moments lost Swinging in circles, then drifting off Have you loved so hard it hurts, or have you forgot? Everybody wants me to step back, to take it back, but did you know that I’m the only one who could ever make it right for you Everybody wants me to go back, say I was wrong, but did you know that I’m the only one who could ever be in love with you Everybody says that we’re both wrong, gotta make up and get along I’m the only one who could ever make it right with you Even if they say that we’re finished, they got it all wrong, cos did you notice I’m the only one that will ever be right for you sorry (I didn’t want to cause you this pain) don’t feel so sorry I’m sorry (promised never to hurt you again) always so sorry Hands on my face and crouching low Arrowheads crashing over castle walls Devil’s gonna break right through the window All these fairy tales, this fantasy Were we only living in the make-believe? And isn’t it time for you and I to get real sorry always so sorry I’m sorry don’t feel so sorry Everybody wants me to step back, to take it back, but did you know that I’m the only one who could ever make it right with you Everybody wants me to go back, say I was wrong, but did you know that I’m the only one who could ever be in love with you

Backbone 04:02
Another ugly day Somebody threw the first punch, scrapping on the way home Did you see the looks they gave Staring out daggers, they’d rather fight than be alone All they care about is that they won Makes it unbearable for everyone Get the hell out when the school day’s done Just no good at it, anyway Your friends are gonna shake The blender with no backbone, saw her crying on the way home Better put your books away (put your books away) Got tripped up in the corridor, while the teachers looked the other way All they care about is that they won Makes it unbearable for everyone Get the hell out when the school day’s done Just no good at it, anyway Makes them feel good to put her down Say they can’t stand having her around Her parents say she needs to grow a backbone If she’s gonna make it on her own Backbone, they said she needs to grow a backbone Backbone, you need to grow a backbone Ah, all the things I wanted to tell you All the trouble piled up in my mind Can’t keep lying down like this any more So sick of hanging back and wasting time Ah, all the times I tried to reach out for you But still the words just wouldn’t come out I’m just keeping watch and keep to myself That’s the only way I know how Ooh ooh, ooh ooh

know what I’m about you know what I’m about to say, you know what I’m about you know what I’m about to say, you Gracie, what you gonna do with your time now? When fortune smiles like the sun on your hands now Gracie, high above the roof of your home the clouds take on many forms, so what can you see in the sky now? You’re gonna wake up and say ‘from the forest of dreams, which bough shall I bend, and shape to become real?’ Climb up, you’ll see over the glittering green, between the treetops and sun, the gift of today is love, always love know what I’m about you know what I’m about to say, you Good fortune Clouds dancing Possibilities Unfolding Sun shining Eyes open Keep wondering Keep imagining Gracie what can you see in the sky now? What can you see in the sky?

Jump Rope 04:36
Ready to pop, fizzing out, ripping buttons off, don’t blame me for what I’m ‘bout to do I’m a stuck bottle top, cork stops in flooded electrical sockets, wishin’ I could follow you Axehead, red, what the heck, chop off the neck, life pouring out, will you let it through? Oh who you gonna wait for to tell you? I’d rather jump rope, flip the coin, try and make the team Boot the ball, double-bounce on the trampoline Hitting hard, no one’s coping with anything, but I’m not waiting Causing trouble on the streets, stones in window panes Like the kiss of the prince I’m myself again Hitting hard, no one’s coping with anything, let’s start from new again Ready to pop (all bottled up), let’s start from new again Stuck bottle top (all bottled up), let’s start from new again (jump rope, jump rope) Coiled tight, paused, ready to strike, don’t try and tell me what to do I’m cooped in, hissy fit, imprisoned, citizens under supervision, wishing I could follow you Window latch, open a crack, snake out and bite back, what you make of life is up to you Oh who you gonna wait for to tell you? Oh who you gonna wait for to tell you? We don’t know what to think, we don’t feel anything Human lie, human machine, empty eyes, blinking screen Boots and guns, promises, promises, promises Just wait for someone to tell you Jump rope, flip the coin, captain lead your team Steal the ball, smash and grab at the cash machine Hitting hard, no one’s coping with anything, but I’m not waiting Causing trouble on the streets, stones in window panes Like the kiss of the prince I’m myself again Hitting hard, no one’s coping with anything, let’s start from new again Ready to pop (all bottled up), let’s start from new again Stuck bottle top (all bottled up), let’s start from new again (jump rope, jump rope) Ready to pop (all bottled up), let’s start from new again Stuck bottle top (all bottled up), let’s start from new again (jump rope, jump rope)

Amy 03:30
Amy! Did you turn around to see if it was me? Amy! Did you ever make it overseas? From a distance, I couldn’t quite tell if it was you But when you came close, I felt the devil in my throat calling out to you The rainbow sun, a mirrored wave caught them by surprise Had to let go when he couldn’t see his own reflection in her eyes Buried memories, block the truth out so you’ll never find the key It’s a puzzle of sorts, spirits unresolved, lost and swimming out to sea Amy! Did you turn around to see if it was me? Amy! Did you ever make it overseas? From a distance, I couldn’t quite tell if it was you But when you came close, I felt the devil in my throat turn his back on you She’s floating by, he can’t tell why she’s returned from years ago The dead to life, the dance, the coloured lights and flowers in restless dreams of Mexico It’s a puzzle unsolved, watching it unfold, like petals blowing across the sea Amy! Did you turn around to see if it was me? Amy! Did you ever make it overseas? From a distance, I couldn’t quite tell if it was you But when you came close, I felt the goodness in your heart and I’m celebrating you, I’m dreaming of you, Amy! Dreaming of Amy Dreaming of Amy Dreaming of Amy

back to earth as the holiday ends the kids in the back of the old Mercedes Benz the picnic table was a sad affair amongst the crumbs and dirty plates I left you crying there luggage trolleys and diner stops lounges in airports and parking lots snowfall, sunrise, so many worlds to see is it a dream, or do you think the dreams are dreaming me? these days, I gotta take it slow the bond we shared, had to let it go but beyond the sky across that Great Divide I hope we can still find our way to viking town, freedom and friends who sing invisible lines connecting all these things and through it all, I sometimes think I see a glimpse of you in the old Mercedes out there, driving free is it a dream, or could it be your dream is dreaming me?
